Open Plan Living - Concept to Reality

Updated: Feb 14, 2022

Sometimes when you are embarking on home improvements, there seem to be endless choices and it's hard to see the wood for the trees. This particular project all began with the flooring, something that can genuinely make or break a design scheme!

Having chosen the units for their upcoming new kitchen, the flooring was proving to be a challenge for our clients and, with such a large space to work with, they did not want to make an expensive mistake. We met our clients at Flooring Projects in Trafford Park to narrow down the options and the consensus was an LVT floor - a stylish, practical and durable choice. Blackjack Oak was the perfect shade to bring warmth to the scheme with lines and knots, creating an authentic limed oak effect that tones beautifully with the kitchen cupboards. This flooring runs from the hallway into the open plan living, dining and kitchen area and the cohesive layout enhances the spacious feel whilst rugs help to define the key areas. We also recommended that the floor was laid vertically to draw the eye outdoors - this works well when pointing towards a window as it follows the natural light. Colour matching the internal flooring with the outdoor decking / tiling enhances the relationship between inside and outdoors.

So, from the ground upwards, the design came to fruition and we think the results are pretty spectacular. You can see the initial moodboard concepts below and them see them brought to life in the images of the individual zones in this stunning open place living space. We've also included lots of photos of this project both before and during the renovation process -we all love a good before and after and hope this provides a bit of inspiration.
