Our Story...

Hello! We are Steph and Helen and we’ve been obsessed with houses since as long as we can remember! With a passion for beautiful interiors (and very patient husbands!) we have renovated, revamped and transformed our own places over the years.

As our lives have evolved and our families have grown, our homes have ranged from an ultra-modern apartment to an Edwardian family home; a new-build townhouse to a 1930’s detached. Whatever the style, one thing has always remained true: our homes have been our sanctuary, a place for us to make our very own so we can truly relax and feel comfortable.

Although homebirds, our shared love of travel has taken us to plenty of far flung places around the globe! There’s no better way to find a little bit of interiors inspiration than on holiday and our favourite corner of the world is the South of France. It was here that we first started to ponder the idea of setting up our own interiors business.

There’s something particularly inspiring about the colours and light across those beautiful vistas in the Cote D’azur. Fuelled by a few glasses of the palest rose one afternoon, we started to formulate a plan! Whilst everyone’s home should be their haven, we recognised that not everyone has the time nor the expertise to create it. We knew we could help! Our fascination with all things ‘interiors’ combined with the experience and skills we had honed during our previous jobs would stand us in good stead!

At this point, having enjoyed successful careers in advertising and healthcare, we had taken some time out to be at home with our young children. Spending more time in our houses, the importance of ‘home’ had become even more apparent to us. We recognised how much your surroundings can affect how you feel! A beautiful but organised home felt more important than ever amidst the chaos of busy family life. A little oasis of calm was essential!

In 2016, we decided to back up our hands-on practical experience in creating beautiful homes with a professional qualification. Diplomas from the Interior Design Institute gave us the feather in our caps to take a leap of faith together. And so, inspired by our ever so glamourous surnames, we established Smith Ogden Interior Design.

With 2 kids and a dog each, life is busier than ever but we are delighted to have turned our passion into our business and we love nothing more than helping clients to create spaces that are as stylish as they are functional.
