Whilst not all little girls like 'pretty pretty', we're secretly a bit delighted when they do! It gives us an excuse to unleash a palette of pastels and go for a pom pom or two! This styling project for a bedroom belonging to an 8 year old girl, allowed us to do just that.
The brief was to create a 'girlie' room that felt contemporary with a place for everything! More of a spruce up than a total overhaul, the plan was to focus on the all important details in the space. As always, little details = big impact!
The client opted for a bold and bright polka dot fabric for the curtains which really popped against the soft lilac walls. The fabric was a great choice...as well as adding impact to the room, it allowed for lots of flexibility in terms of colours to pair with it. We ended up with a brighter accent shade of cerise pink - still girlie, as per the brief, but lots of fun.
You can see the final result below and the room before a little further down. The little girl was especially pleased with the additional lighting we added...a stylish bedside light, a bright and directional desk lamp, a cool light-up K and...the obligatory fairy lights that little girls (and some big girls...guilty!) can't get enough of! The furniture was rearranged and more storage was added. A sheepskin rug and luxurious throw added layers of texture to bring the room to life and feel a little more 'pampery' and cool artwork helped bring a contemporary edge to the space. Ta..da...simple!
